The National Key R&D Program of Southeast University, the strategic advanced electronic materials key project 2016 “New Display Visual Health Research” was approved by the expert group after pre-declaration, formal declaration, video response, task review and other links. The Ministry of Science and Technology established a project. The lead unit of the project is Southeast University, and the project leader is Professor Wang Baoping.


The emergence of new display technologies has enriched the form and content of human visual perception and promoted the rapid development of the information society. At the same time, the wide application of various display devices and people's excessive dependence on information devices have caused the visual health problems to become increasingly prominent. After nearly 10 years of construction and development, China has become the world's largest manufacturer and consumer of information display terminals. The evaluation standard system and the intelligent evaluation platform showing the lack of visual health are lacking. The original driving force for original innovation and sustainable development is lacking. The display industry must be upgraded in turn to improve the international competitiveness of products and technologies.


This project focuses on the key scientific issues of the relationship between the photoelectric performance and visual health of the display device. The project is based on the human visual perception characteristics and visual processing mechanism, focusing on the comprehensive mechanism of the photoelectricity and viewing conditions of the display device for visual health. Establish a multi-input and multi-output model for visual health correlation of display devices, establish a new display visual health intelligent evaluation platform, provide theoretical guidance for the development of new health display technologies, and develop standard specifications.


The project consists of four topics. The 11 units participating in the project include famous universities engaged in information display technology research, standardized research institutes, first-class hospitals engaged in visual science and optical vision research, and leading enterprises in China's display manufacturing. It has a domestic focal point for the International Laboratory for Information Display and Visualization, the National Eye and Light Engineering Technology Research Center, and ISO/IEC. The advanced units are united with each other, with interdisciplinary and complementary advantages, and the research fields are comprehensive.


This project will provide a complete display visual health evaluation standard system and intelligent evaluation platform for enterprises and users from the perspective of visual health. It will provide design direction for enterprises, supervise and guide enterprises to design and improve display devices from the perspective of visual health, to achieve the goal of visual health and display device fun, maintaining the Public Interests of Society. At the same time, through the optimization of new health display devices, the damage of the display to human vision is reduced, the national visual health is guaranteed, and the national health quality is improved.
