Southeast University attaches great importance to international cooperation in personnel training, scientific research and social services. Especially in the field of information display and visual chemistry, long-term cooperative relationships have been established with Royal Dutch Philips Electronics Ltd (1994-), Université de Rennes 1 (1995-), University of Cambridge (2005-),Institut National de la Sante et de la Recherche Medicale (INSERM) (2006-). In 2007, Southeast University was supported by the Ministry of Education's Discipline Innovation and Innovation Program (Project 111) to built the “Dispaly Science and Technology Innovation Initiative Base”, and received national rolling support in 2011. In 2012, Southeast University focused on deep integration of Southeast University's international cooperation experience and conditions in the field of information display and visual chemistry for nearly 20 years, and explored an international development path that conforms to the current domestic and international situation, adaptive information display and visual chemistry. In the reform and innovation of scientific research mechanism and management system, fully expand the influence and effectiveness of international cooperation, Southeast University decided to establish the “Joint International Research Laboratory of Information Display and Visualizationa” and the laboratory approved construction in 2015 through project demonstration. The joint laboratory is based on Southeast University and is based on the first university of Rennes, France, the University of Cambridge, the French National Institute of Health and Hygiene, and the Dutch company Philips. The joint laboratory is based on display science and technology innovation, and its functions cover personnel training, scientific research and industrial services.

  

    The joint laboratory aims to build a test field for information display and visual chemistry innovation to support the leap-forward development of China's information display industry as the explorer of discipline reform and opening. Since the establishment of the project was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2015, adhering to the principles of long-term international cooperation, interdisciplinary integration and professional integration, and the combination of basic research and industry, giving full play to the advantages of international cooperation resources and gradually improve the forms of international cooperation, the joint laboratory has achieved remarkable results in discipline construction, personnel training, academic research, cultural exchange, and system improvement. While aiming at the frontiers of international science and technology and building world-class laboratories, the joint laboratory actively responds to the call of the state, takes the “Belt and Road” construction as an opportunity, constantly improves the international soft and hard environment, and actively carries out international exchanges of multilateral academic and cultural, establishing strategic partnerships with higher education institutions and academic organizations along the line, and achieving a series of progress.

  

    Under the guidance of the competent authorities and expert committees, with the support of Southeast University and multilateral partners, after three years of construction, the joint laboratory has basically realized the combination of international first-class academic institutions and enterprises Integrating as well as the integration of technical advantages and talent advantages at home and abroad. The joint laboratory has made original achievements in photoelectric functional materials, new display devices, visual perception and health, medical image and visualization, etc., which have significant scientific and technological value and social benefits.

  

    At present, the joint laboratory has 113 teaching and research personnel. Among them, there are 37 foreign experts and 76 members of the Chinese team, including 32 professors, 28 associate professors. Besides, 94.7% of the Chinese researchers have one year or more of overseas study experience. Pro.f Wang Baoping is SID Fellow, Pro.f Cui Yiping is OSA Fellow, and Pro.f Huang Qingan is IEEE Fellow. Among the foreign experts hired by the joint laboratory.

    The construction of the joint laboratory effectively helped Southeast University's electronic science and technology first-level disciplines be listed as A in the 2017 Ministry of Education Discipline Assessment. Besides, this subject was included in the list of selected first-class construction disciplines, which expanded the international influence of disciplines and schools. Expanding and stabilizing the international faculty and curriculum system, exploring new ways of international talent training, the joint laboratory has achieved the first prize and second prize of the international teaching achievement award, and has obtained the approval of the Ministry of Education to build the Southeast University Lei Graduate School in 2017. In the past three years, 32 doctoral students, 30 post-doctoral students and nearly 300 graduate students have been trained, including 106 Chinese and French double-graduate students; and 21 international students have been accepted.

  

    The joint laboratory uses the 4,500 square meters of the entire building of the original electronic tube factory as the central office of the joint laboratory. At the same time, 1,500 square meters of Jinlingyuan, 2000 square meters of Nangaoyuan, 1000 square meters of Qunyin Building and 2000 square meters of Yifu Branch is integrated as experimental office space. The value of scientific research equipment is nearly 120 million. The main equipment is fully open to social sharing.

  

   Since the establishment of the project, the joint laboratory has taken charge of one national key R&D project (15 million national funds) and three projects; one national defense 973 project (funded by 15 million yuan), and the accumulated research funding reached 212 million. To date, the joint laboratory has published more than 120 SCI papers and has applied for 110 invention patents, including 6 PCT patents. In addition, we have been providing services for 56 enterprises including Huawei, Philips, LG, Hisense and Huaxing Optoelectronics through project cooperation, technology transfer, technical consultation and talent training. In the past three years, the laboratory has won more than 30 million enterprise horizontal project contracts. Cooperated with Nanjing Municipal Government to build Nanjing-Dongda Intelligent Optoelectronic Industry Innovation Center, the joint laboratory made a great contribution in equity reform and establishing new R&D institutions. The joint lab hosted and co-organized 6 international academic conferences/forums, and the team members were invited by the international conference to report more than 50 times. The joint laboratory has been served for the international academic organization more than 10 times, leading and participating in more than 10 international and domestic standards.
